Lazio’s Dutch defender Edson Braafheid is out for two months due to knee ligament injury.

The Dutchman had stumbled and limped off at the end of first half during yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Parma at the Stadio Tardini.

Il Messaggero reports that the player has sustained serious injuries and will take a long time to recover.

Lazio chief medic Stefano Salvatori gave his diagnosis of Braafheid’s injury to Lazio Style Radio.

“We fear a first to second degree lesion to the collateral medial ligament in the left knee,” Salvatori said.

“The cruciate ligament appears to have held firm, but we need further tests to see if there has been damage to the medial or meniscus ligaments.

“As things stand, he’ll be out for four to eight weeks.”

The 31-year-old Dutch international had joined Lazio in August 2014 on a free transfer from Hoffenheim.
