Lazio are trying to ward off interest from Fiorentina and FC Twente for the signature of young AZ Alkmaar defender Wesley Hoedt.
The 20-year-old Dutch youth international has established himself as a first team member of the Eredivisie outfit this term, impressing onlookers with his performances.
Il Messaggero report that Lazio are very interested in signing the young central defender, as they step up their search for a replacement for the injured Santiago Gentiletti.
Hoedt refused to sign a new deal a few weeks ago, which means he can move to whichever club he wants to at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Lazio are confident they can nab Hoedt for a nominal fee in January however, instead of waiting until the conclusion of the season to draft him into the side.
Hoedt has made 12 appearances in the league this season for AZ.
