Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has hinted at a possible reunion with former boss Rafa Benitez at Napoli during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old had been steadily linked with a move to the Partenopei before the start of the 2014-15 season but ended up remaining with the Reds after a deal failed to materialise, though he admits that an exit from the Anfield outfit may still be in store for him in the near future.
Leiva spoke to Show dos Esportes about Napoli’s interest in him and commented on where he may continue his career in January if he decides to leave Liverpool, ruling out a return to former club Gremio.
“Everyone knows that I had tried joining Napoli over the summer but they haven’t shown any interest as of late,” said the Brazilian, who has made eight Premier League appearances this season thus far.
“My future? I don’t know what will happen. I can only say that I will not be returning to Gremio.”
