luca toni veronaHellas Verona centre forward Luca Toni was over the moon after scoring his 300th goal in all competitions, whilst also helping his side beat Udinese 2-1 at the Stadio Friuli.

The victory ended the Gialloblu’s eight match winless run and propelled the club to 13th in the Serie A table with 17 points.

“I wanted to score today and I was hoping it would be an important goal,” Toni told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now that I have managed to get to 300 professional goals I’ll try to do little charities and I hope the fans will help me.”

The game saw Italian veteran Antonio Di Natale open the scoring for the Zebrette, but Toni soon levelled proceedings at half time before Lazaros Christodoulopoulos scored the winner for Verona just after the interval.

“I’m very attached to my family and to the land here [in Verona],” Toni went on.

“If me and Di Natale score it means that we are still going strong. Our league will have to suffer, definitely.” joked the 37-year-old.

Toni has played 14 times for Verona in the Serie A this season, scoring four times and assisting three times.
