Christian Maggio believes that Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Parma was the perfect response to their uninspiring weekend defeat to AC Milan.

The Partneopei recorded their first Serie A victory since early November courtesy of first half goals from Duvan Zapata and Dries Mertens. The three points moves Napoli up to third in table.

“Today we needed a response,” the vice captain told Sky Sport Italia, “because in Milan we played a bad game.”

“We have lacked a bit of continuity, especially with regards to the smaller teams who sometimes do not play football. We need to figure out where we are making mistakes and then work not repeat those mistakes.”

The 32-year-old then turned his attention to the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus which will be contested in Qatar on Monday.

“Tonight is a good result, especially in view of Monday. We responded to Juve and in Doha will try to honor the jersey. We want to bring home the Supercoppa that has been missing from us for so many years.”

Juventus are the current holders of the Supercoppa having thumped Lazio 4-0 in last season’s fixture.
