Premier League giants Manchester United are preparing a €37 million bid for Roma’s Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman.

The Red Devils are reportedly planning major reinforcements to their squad in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Daily Star reports that the English club have planned purchases worth €100 million with Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, as well as Benfica’s Argentinean duo of Enzo Perez and Nicolas Gaitan thought to be on radar of United coach Louis Van Gaal.

Van Gaal, in a bid to fortify midfield, is understood to have made the signing of Dutchman Kevin Strootman his main priority in the upcoming transfer market.

Van Gaal has reportedly budgeted €63m for the Benefica duo and the remaining €37m is set aside for Kevin Strootman.

The Dutch manager knows Strootman well from his time in charge of the Netherlands national team, and is keen to link up with the prolific midfielder again at Old Trafford.

United’s hopes of signing Kevin Strootman were boosted earlier this month by their Premier League rivals Manchester City, who eliminated Roma from the Champions League group stages.

The defensive midfielder has over 25 appearances for the Italian side since moving to Rome in 2013.
