Inter defender Nemanja Vidic will not be returning to Manchester United during the January transfer window, with the English side rejected the opportunity to re-sign the player.

United have struggled fielding a healthy backline during the 2014-15 season and have had to rely on youngsters Tyler Blackett and Patrick McNair, whilst also being forced to play central midfielder Michael Carrick as a centerback.

As a result, it had been suggested that Vidic would make a shock return to England having failed to impress at Inter, but according to the The Mirror, United manager Louis Van Gaal is not interested in bringing Vidic back to the club and has blocked any attempts to resign the player.

Vidic hasn’t made an appearance for Inter since he started the 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona on November 9.
