Mancini InterInter coach Roberto Mancini has maintained that the Nerazzurri will fight to finish third in Serie A and win the Europa League.

The Biscione sit 12th in Serie A, and face Chievo on Monday night with Mancini still without a win in the league since taking over last month.

“I am convinced that we will fight for third place [in Serie A] and victory in the Europe League,” the Italian told the pre-match press conference.

“Monday’s game is not a final, but we have to take points. Chievo are unbeaten and will be tough to play, but the outcome of the game depends on how we perform.

“I do not want to see us get caught on the counter like Udinese did to us.”

Following a 0-0 draw with Qarabag in the Europa League, where Inter had already finished top of Group F, the 50-year-old has a few injury concerns.

“Rodrigo Palacio has had an ankle problem for some time and is not fully fit, but he is available and I thank him for holding out.

“Hernanes has experience and quality, but is not yet in the best condition. He has to give more than he has so far.”

With January fast approaching, Mancini answered questions on Mario Balotelli, and with the Liverpool striker struggling for form, there has been talk of the striker moving back to Inter.

“I have not seen Mario for about two years. I am a fan of his and hope to see him happy.

“I haven’t looked at the budget, I think both myself and the club believe there is some business to be done but I do not know who will come.”

Finally, with Inter appointing Mancini’s assistant, Sylvinho, in the week, the coach talked about his plans for the Brazilian, smiling while saying, “Unfortunately he cannot play, but he is young and talented and will give us a big hand.”
