AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes has claimed he’s always tried his best in his four years at the San Siro club.

The 32 year-old helped to keep Roma at bay in the 0-0 draw on Saturday evening and was named Man of the Match for his display.

“I’m delighted to be named man of the match, but I think Diego Lopez deserved it,” Mexes told Sky Sport Italia.

“I thought Lopez had a great match, we’re content with the point against Roma but must continue to improve.”

Mexes joined the Rossoneri in 2011 when his deal with Roma expired after seven years in the Italian capital.

“I’ve always given my best in my four years at Milan, our goal this evening was at least a point,” he claimed.

“We suffered this evening, but we have to take our form into 2015. We are trying to improve.”

The Frenchman is into the last year of his contract with the Rossoneri with his €4m salary proving a problem.
