Luciano Moggi JuventusFormer Napoli sporting director Luciano Moggi is adamant that the Azzurri must improve their game if they hope to finish in the top three this season and admits that the team is lacking in certain areas on the pitch.

The Partenopei currently sit in seventh place as they prepare to go up against last place Parma on Thursday and the 77-year-old believes that Rafa Benitez’s squad is missing players with certain necessary characteristics, causing damage to the club’s performances as of late.

Moggi spoke during ‘Si Gonfia La Rete’ on Radio CRC about Napoli’s current situation in the Serie A and gave his input on what the San Paolo outfit must do to have a successful campaign, while also commenting of the type of players needed to strengthen the team.

“Napoli need a midfielder with different characteristics compared to the ones they already have in the squad,” said the ex-Napoli and Juventus executive. “They need a player like Valon Behrami again and a defender to help improve things.

“Napoli always make references to their games against teams like Roma and Fiorentina, and they have quality players like Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon, but it is not a complete team.

“Losing points against lower ranked teams has become a constant and it is not possible to move forward unless there is a turnaround.

“It’s still possible for Napoli to make it into the top three in the standings, but they must fight because a lot of other teams have the ability to make it as well.”
