Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has admitted his side face a difficult task after being drawn against Tottenham Hotspur in the last 32 of the Europa League.

The Viola’s reward for topping Group K is a tie against the English Premier League side who finished second in Group C and the Italian coach recognises that reaching the next round will be a big achievement.

“They [Tottenham] will be an opposition who will be tricky to deal with,” said the 40-year-old following the draw.

“At the moment their position in the Premier League [seventh] does not reflect the true value and the ability of this highly technical team.

“Then we must also take into account whether they will go into the transfer market in January to strengthen an already strong team with a midfielder of absolute quality.

“But I know my players and I know they will give their best, as always.

“We know how difficult it is to play in the English stadiums, the crowd is always very hostile.

“But then we will play at the [Stadio Artemio] Franchi and our fans will give us a big hand.”
