AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo has said his return to football was like a second debut.
Montolivo was injured while playing a friendly for Italy on May 31 against the Republic of Ireland, five days before the World Cup began, which ruled him out of playing again for club or country until he returned on November 30.
He returned against Udinese in the Serie A, and said to Corriere della Sera that, “playing those five minutes against Udinese was like a second debut in Serie A.”
The 29-year-old also thanked the club for being there for him during his injury: “Fundamental were my family, and my second family, Milan.
“Silvio Berlusconi stood by me personally.”
