Hellas Verona defender Vangelis Moras has urged his team to remain positive after their Derby della Scala loss to Chievo on Sunday and believes that the opponent’s winning goal was offside.

The Mastini fell 1-0 to the Flying Donkeys at the Bentegodi in their last match of 2014 and the 33-year-old feels that the referees made a mistake by allowing Alberto Paloschi’s late goal to stand, though he insists that he’s now focused on beginning to improve ahead of the new year.

Moras spoke to Sky Sport Italia after the disheartening loss to Chievo about his mission to aid Hellas Verona in their mission to have a successful second half of the season and commented on the importance of donating bone marrow, as he helped save his brother’s life by donating his own over the summer.

“The objective was to give a signal to the people of what it means to donate bone marrow,” said the Greek international. “It would be nice if more people became donors.

“In regards to the derby, the decisive goal was offside by a metre. It hurts losing a derby in a full stadium, in front of your fans.

“The referees have to be more careful in these situations, but now we look forward. We now have to keep things positive and improve on any negative aspects of our game, we have time, now, to be critical of ourselves and try to improve in 2015.”
