Rafa-Benitez-turista-a-NapoliNapoli boss Rafa Benitez was pleased with his side’s 2-0 victory over Parma in Serie A, and singled out the performance of striker Duvan Zapata.

The Partenopei endured four league outings without a win prior to their triumph over the struggling Crociati, but have ended league action for the year on a high thanks to goals from Zapata and Dries Mertens.

“Higuain is a key player, but Duvan is doing well,” said Benitez when asked about Zapata’s selection over the Argentine by Sky Sport Italia.

“He’s not better than Higuain, who is a champion, but today Duvan played a good game. We knew he could do well.”

On the subject of Zapata’s lively partner Jose Callejon, Napoli head coach Benitez only had praise for his performance.

“I told him he should take advantage of his team-mates’ qualities, no matter who scores the goals,” the tactician said.

“I think he understood, because he’s a good guy.”

Looking ahead to Monday’s Supercoppa Italiana clash with Juventus, the Spaniard seemed already focused on the task in hand.

“The next match is always the most important one.”
