Rafa-Benitez-turista-a-NapoliNapoli coach Rafa Benitez has spoken out against the ‘self-destruct’ thinking in the Italian game ahead of the Azzurri’s match against Parma on Thursday.

Napoli are currently a disappointing seventh in the standings, but the Spaniard believes there is no reason his side can’t push for another top three finish.

“Here there is a self-destruct mentality within the media and those who follow the team.” Benitez said at his pre-game press conference ahead of the match against the Ducali.

“I am always criticised over who I play whether it be [Marek] Hamsik, [Jonathan] De Guzman or [Faouzi] Ghoulam.

“It is almost like people want my team to fail instead of following the team.

“I still think we can clinch third place.

“It will be difficult as we have had a difficult start to the season but I believe in my players and my staff.

“I am not thinking about the Supercoppa and will not until it is our next game.”
