Sampdoria defeated Hellas Verona 3-1 at the Stadio Bentegodi on Monday night as the Blucerchiati recorded their first away win to the Gialloblu since 1969.
A first half penalty by Eder was cancelled out by Luca Toni, but second half goals by Stefano Okaka and Manolo Gabbiadini sealed the win with the home side also having to play most of the game with ten men after Rafael Marquez was red carded for bringing down Eder in the box.

Lucky to get away to a handball in the second half and got caught out of position for Okaka’s goal.

Not a good night for the Mexican, who gave away the ball a couple of times coming out of defence and was sent off after 26 minutes after bringing down Eder inside the box.
Vangelis Moras – 4 – Sluggish
Pulled around by the Sampdoria front three but did have a chance to score himself early in the first half which he failed to take.
Alejandro Gonzalez – 4 – Poor
Offered little but was played slightly out of position.
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos – 4 – Spectator

Tough night for the left back having to deal with Gabbaiadini and was pegged back by the tricky forward.

Held up the ball well and showed his reactions are still there by nipping in ahead of the Sampdoria defence to get his side’s equalizer.
Nicolas Lopez – 5 – Runner
Made some incisive runs in the first half and looked lively until he was substituted in the second half to the displeasure of the home crowd.

Quite night for the right back, kept his position well but nearly headed an own goal early on that was saved by Romero.

Kept his position well in defence and looked fairly assured after a shaky start.

Made a couple of good runs from midfield to support the attack, played a lovely one-two with Okaka in the second half that nearly resulted in a goal.
Angelo Palombo – 5.5 – Dependable
Kept things ticking over in midfield, looked tired towards the end and will need to pick up his energy levels for the weekend trip to Juventus.
Alfred Duncan – 4.5 – Distant
Didn’t offer much in midfield even after Verona went down to 10 men, and replaced on 55 minutes by Krsticic.
Manolo Gabbiadini – 7.5 – Live Wire
Man of the match performance for the recalled forward getting on the score sheet and supplying a fine cross for Okaka’s headed finish.
Stefano Okaka – 6.5 – Erratic
Hit and miss performance for the big number nine, poor first half followed by a much improved second, getting on the end of a Gabbiadini cross to head home Samp’s second and producing a fine run that nearly resulted in a goal shortly after.

Looked dangerous all evening producing some nice moves and runs and was taken down for the penalty which he took himself and slotted home. Assisted for Sampdoria’s third.
