Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia has hailed the Nerazzurri’s first win since Roberto Mancini took over from Walter Mazzarri at the club.

The Italian and Mateo Kovacic scored to take the Nerazzuri to 11th in the table after beating Chievo 2-0 and within four points of the top six, three of whom they meet in their next three matches.

“I did well on [my] goal, I’m very happy,” he stated after the match as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

“It’s a critical win that will give us confidence. It was important to win, the teams in front of us are not winning so this success gives us confidence.

“We risked by playing a high line, but we got to the loose balls and we man marked.

“This is important because it doesn’t make us have to run 50 metres backwards.”
