Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Mario Balotelli will remain at the club and that the player remains part of his long term plans.
The enigmatic 24-year-old forward has found himself at the heart of another controversy this week over an Instagram post and rumours quickly surfaced that Rodgers would be prepared to let Balotelli leave in the January transfer window.
“He [Balotelli] is still very much a Liverpool player but he’s injured at the moment and there is nothing else to add,” he said at a press conference on Thursday.
“He’s not fit to play and I am concentrating on players who are fit and available, that is my thinking right now.”
Balotelli has yet to open his goalscoring account for the Reds in the Premier League since his €20 million move from AC Milan in the summer and has managed just two goals in all competitions so far this season.
