Roma are reportedly looking to land Sampdoria striker Gonzalo Bergessio during the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old, who arrived at the Blucerchiati from Catania before the start of the 2014-15 campaign, has failed to score in his 11 Serie A appearances this season thus far but is still being targeted as a possible replacement for Marco Borriello, as the Giallorossi man is expected to make his exit from the capital city club this winter ahead of his contract expiration in June.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has attempted to contact Sampdoria in order to begin negotiations for the Argentine, though details of a developing deal are yet to be known.

Reports also suggest that the Lupi may be interested in signing Atalanta striker German Denis as an alternative, with the 33-year-old apparently looking to make his departure from the Orobici in January due to his inconsistent form in Bergamo.

Denis has scored three goals and provided one assist in his 16 Serie A appearances this term thus far.
