Arsenal’s German striker Lucas Podolski is a loan target for Roma as they look to cover Gervinho next month.

The Giallorossi have identified the 2014 World Cup winner as a short term replacement for Gervinho who is set to link up with the Ivory Coast national team in January for the African Cup of Nations tournament.

The Evening Standard reports that the Serie A side is pondering over a loan move for the German but the player’s €110,000 per week wages might prove a stumbling block for the potential deal.

Podolski’s future at the Emirates has been the subject of unrelenting speculation after being frozen out of coach Arsene Wenger’s first team plans.

Juventus, Inter and Atletico Madrid are the other teams rumored to interested in the German striker.

Podolski joined Arsenal from FC Koln in 2012, and has scored 19 goals in 57 appearances for the Gunners
