Another start for Josip Ilicic, another forgettable performance from the former Palermo man.
Sampdoria have become the latest club to be linked with a move for Fiorentina’s Josip Ilicic.

The Slovenian midfielder is reportedly unhappy in Florence following limited playing time under Vincenzo Montella and several high profile incidents involving Viola supporter’s.

According to the Corriere Fiorentino, Sampdoria are eager to bring the 26-year-old to Genoa, although the newspaper does acknowledge that the Blucerchiati would have to overcome a number of difficulties in order to bring a transfer to fruition.

Firstly there is the €9 million transfer fee Fiorentina paid Palermo for Ilicic in 2013. The Viola would almost certainly be looking to recoup that outlay which may prove to much for Sampdoria. Moreover, there is interest from several foreign sides who would have no trouble funding such a transfer.

The second stumbling block is the player’s annual salary of €100,000 which may also prove to be too high for the port club.

For these reason’s Sampdoria may try to arrange a loan for Ilicic in January which would give them further time to try to reach an agreement for a full transfer in the summer.
