Round 14 of the Serie A season saw both Juventus and Roma held to draws. Empoli took points off Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo and both Milan clubs suffered defeats.

In the Monday night action there were away wins for both Sampdoria and Chievo.

The formation chosen for Team of The Week is a 4-2-3-1 with a number of Serie A’s exciting young talents in the line up. Palermo’s Paulo Dybala narrowly edges out Simone Zaza for the lone striking role up front.

As ever feel free to leave a comment and let us know if you agree or disagree with our selection.

Neto – Fiorentina

Was not often called into action but did everything he was asked to do with aplomb. Showed good concentration levels and ball handling.

Dusan Basta – Lazio

Solid in defence and always willing to push forward down the right flank when possible. Tested the opposing goalkeeper on a couple of occasions. An underrated player

Team of the Week 14Armando Izzo – Genoa (2 Team of The Week appearances)

Another excellent display from the youngster. Won everything in the air and did not let any of the AC Milan forwards get the better of him.

Leonardo Bonucci – Juventus

Always alert and snuffed out any danger as soon as it emerged. Kept Fiorentina forward Mario Gomez under wraps for the majority of the game and was never flustered in possession.

Yohan Benalouane – Atalanta

Went up and down the flank tirelessly during the match against Cesena. Defended reasonably well and scored a spectacular goal to get his side back in the match.

Allan – Udinese

The Brazilian was immense at the San Siro, winning countless tackles and screening his back four expertly as Udinese executed their counter attacking plan to perfection. An unsung hero at the moment, but most likely not for much longer if he continues to put in performances like this.

Andrea Bertolacci – Genoa (2 apps)

The creative outlet for the Genoa side. Was unfazed against the like of Nigel De Jong and Riccardo Montolivio in the AC Milan midfield and rarely, if ever lost the ball.

Felipe Anderson – Lazio

Was the Biancocelesti’s main outlet with his pace and trickery. Appears to be growing in confidence and maturity after a difficult start to life in Italy. Scored the crucial winning goal against Parma and his first in Serie A.

Adem Ljajic – Roma (3 apps)

Rescued a point for the Giallorossi following sub par performance against Sassuolo. The Serbian scored a brace and was the only Roma player who posed any real threat during the ninety minutes.

Diego Perotti – Genoa

The former Sevilla man continues his revival in Italy, this time with a man of the match performance against AC Milan. Was a constant thorn to the Rossoneri fullbacks, gilding past them with ease. Could have an outside shot of earning himself a recall to the Argentine squad if he continues this form.

Paulo Dybala – Palermo (3 apps)

The young Argentine was quiet for large spells but reminded everyone of his unique talent with a delicious goal, flicking the ball over his head before firing home at the near post. Will surely be the subject of much transfer talk in the coming months.
