Livorno were the victors in the fixture between two of last season’s relegated teams from Serie A as they beat Catania 4-2.

The Amaranto moved up to third place thanks to a late show at the Stadio Armando Picchi.

The home side took the lead in the opening ten minutes thanks to a strike from Enej Jelenic but Michal Chrapek equalised for the Elefanti before the break.

The visitors then took the lead in the 57th as Emanuele Calaio dispatched a spot kick.

Livorno wouldn’t lie back though, scoring three goals in the final 12 minutes to secure the win. Jefferson equalised in the 78th minute and then Andrey Galabinov put them in front two minutes later.

Luca Siligardi finished off the match in the 89th minute with an effort to make the score 4-2 to Livorno.

Carpi extended their lead at the top of the table thanks to a 1-0 win against Modena.

Top goalscorer Jerry Mbakogu got the goal in the 79th minute to take their points tally up to 36, six ahead of Frosinone.

The Ciociari could have kept the gap at four points but they could only manage to muster a point away at Bologna.

Daniel Ciofani put the away side in front in the first half, but at the start of the second half Daniel Bessa equalised for the Rossoblu.

Frosinone went back in front thanks to own goal from Marios Oikonomou, but were denied the three points as Domenico Maietta levelled five minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Spezia kept up with the pace of the other teams in the play-off positions as they defeated Brescia 1-0 at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti.

A goal in the opening minutes from Mario Situm was enough for the Aquilotti to secure the win.

Virtus Entella moved out of the play-out positions with a 2-1 win over Vicenza.

Entella took the lead in the 16th minute through Andrea Mazzarani, and later doubled their lead in the 62nd minute through Luca Cecchini.

Vicenza were reduced to ten men when the score was 1-0 as Salvatore D’Elia received his second yellow card.

Despite a man less Vicenza nicked a goal back in the closing moments through Andrea Cocco.

Cittadella’s run of matches without a win was stretched to 14 today as they lost 1-0 at home to Bari.

Youngster Joseph Minala grabbed the goal in the 92nd minute which means that Citta are still level at the bottom of the table with Latina.

Fellow strugglers Crotone were also defeated by ten men Pro Vercelli 1-0 thanks to a goal from Niccolo Belloni.

Mohamed Coly was given his marching orders in the 85th minute after receiving his second yellow card and a minute later Belloni popped up to nick the game for Pro Vercelli.

Ternana, who surprisingly beat Frosinone away from home last week were beaten by Virtus Lanciano 1-0.

Carlo Mammarella scored the all important goal in the 72nd minute in what was a fairly evenly matched affair.

Finally there was a goalless game in the match between Pescara and Avellino at the Stadio Adriatico.

Despite there being no goals there was still some action as there were two dismissals with Bartosz Salamon for Pescara and Rodrigo Ely for Avellino being sent off.
