Ex-Roma midfielder Rodrigo Taddei has given credit to Hellas Verona, after his Perugia side were knocked out by the Serie A outfit in their Coppa Italia clash on Tuesday evening.

A Javier Saviola penalty midway through the first half was enough for Verona to make it through to the fifth round, where they will face Scudetto holders Juventus in Turin.

“We did well against Verona, and there is some regret because we wanted to win. But they have some great players, so congratulations to them,” Taddei told Rai Sport after the match.

“[How far can Perugia go in Serie B] We’ll see, we think of one match at a time. It is a long and difficult season, we did well early in the season but our squad is thin.

“There are so many young players, and in Serie B it’s important not to lose because it takes only a few victories to push up to the top of the ladder.

“[The affection of the Roma fans] It’s always nice, the Roma supporters were fantastic during my stay in the capital. But now I think of Perugia and will give everything for this club.”
