Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero insists that his side are looking to move up the Serie A table, while stating that the players are not thinking about the upcoming Christmas break.

The Viola currently sit in eighth place, but are still only three points away from a Champions League spot.

“The match against Empoli is going to be hard because it’s the last before the holidays”, the Spaniard told Rai.

“People might think that we are thinking about the holidays but we will train hard until the end of the calendar year.

“We hope to continue our ascent in the table, and increase the positive results.”

Fiorentina were drawn against Tottenham Hotspur in the first knockout round of the Europa League earlier this week, but the Spaniard believes the matchup is too far away to discuss.

“It’s a game that is still very far away for us, but it will be fascinating.”
