AC Milan are reportedly deciding on what to do with Philippe Mexes now that he’s received a four-match ban for violent conduct during the Diavolo’s 3-1 loss to Lazio on Saturday.

The 32-year-old, who will be out of a contract with the Rossoneri come June, was handed the lengthy suspension on Tuesday based on his violent outburst against Stefano Mauri in the away defeat and it seems like his bad behaviour may have negatively affected his chances of ending his career with the San Siro outfit on a good note, as there are now signs of him making an exit before the summer arrives.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani may seek to terminate the Frenchman’s contract ahead of its expiration date, which would end up saving the club a total of around €3 million while still leaving space to pick up a new centre-back.

Reports also suggest that even if the former Roma man were to remain at the Milan side for the rest of the season, he would most likely lose his place in Pippo Inzaghi’s line up.

The Rossoneri will be facing Lazio again on Tuesday, but this time at home in the Coppa Italia.
