Cesena have been hit with a €15,000 fine by the Lega Serie A after insulting and racist chants were heard during their recent game against Napoli on Tuesday.

The Partenopei won the game comfortably 4-1 but the game was soured by the chanting from the local side’s supporters before the game started and throughout the second half.

The fine was confirmed in the Lega’s weekly official communication where the chants were deemed to be “insulting for reasons of territorial origin.”

Following the most recent round of Serie A fixtures, Cesena now find themselves on level points with bottom side Parma, the only side that Cesena have managed to beat in the league, and are currently on a 16 match winless run.
