Atalanta boss Stefano Colantuono has revealed that his team will be pushing for a win against Cagliari as they look to make their way up the Serie A table.

The Orobici will be hosting the Isolani in Bergamo on Sunday and the tactician is hoping his side can secure the three points in order to further distance themselves from the relegation zone, as they currently sit in 15th place with 20 points, though he admits that the visitors have been a hard team to crack since Gianfranco Zola’s arrival as coach.

Colantuono spoke to Atalanta.it during his pre-match press conference on Saturday about La Dea’s need for a victory and the respect he has for Cagliari, while also commenting on the condition of new Atalanta signing Urby Emanuelson.

“It’s a game that we must try to win because it would allow us to make a big step forward in the standings,” said the 52-year-old.

“It’s not a decisive game, but it would certainly improve a ranking that needs much improvement.

“Zola has been able to bring much serenity and team spirit to the Cagliari environment since his arrival. He’s leading them to better results.

“I have great respect for him and the utmost respect for Cagliari, a team that has always been able to save themselves in recent years and has demonstrated the right values.

“Emanuelson? He still needs some time, since he hadn’t played enough at Roma, but he is available. To me he is a winger, who can play on both the right and left sides.”
