Cesena’s coach Domenico Di Carlo praised his team after the 2-1 away win at Parma on Sunday afternoon in Serie A and said that the positive result could help them turn their season around.

Despite leading for the majority of the time, the Cavallucci Marini nearly missed out on the win after a bizarre own goal by Emmanuel Cascione canceled Nico Pulzetti’s first-half goal, but a stunning volley by substitute Alex Rodriguez in the dying seconds of the regular 90 minutes secured the win.

“I have asked the boys to continue to believe in the dream of survival, to have ambitions and the desire to fight in every match,” Di Carlo told Radio Rai after the match.

“I congratulate the group because they know how to suffer.

“They could give up but instead believed in [the win].

“These are three important points in the big picture of the second half of the season.

The 50-year-old specialist said that the win has the potential of being more than just three points, however.

“We are showing growth, today everyone wanted this win.

“Now our fans can rejoice with us forĀ  a week, we go home with three points and I hope it will give us a mental breakthrough.”
