The father of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Evgen Konoplyanka has said that it is unlikely that the 25-year-old will sign for Roma and it is probable he will stay   with the Ukrainian side until the summer.

The Dnipro player had been touted as a January reinforcement for the Giallorossi with striker Mattia Destro on the verge of a move to AC Milan.

“Most probably the contract with Roma will not be signed,” said the player’s father Oleg Konoplyanka to FootballUa.tv.

“What I can say is that Roma would really like him to sign it, but my son wants to stay at Dnipro until June and then leave.

“He wants to stay and I think he will very probably remain here until his contract expires.”

It has been reported that the Serie A’s sides sporting director Walter Sabatini is yet to meet the player’s demands and the father’s comments are a ploy to increase his bargaining power.

Dnipro are thought to be keen on a January switch so that they do not lose the player on a free transfer in the summer.

Konoplyanka has made 12 appearances and scored four goals for Dnipro in the 2014-15 Ukrainian Premier Liga season.
