Dybala palermoPalermo striker Paulo Dybala has claimed that the controversial decision not to award a goal to teammate Michel Morganella in today’s 1–1 draw with Sampdoria was incorrect, whilst also reaffirming that Palermo’s aim is still survival in Serie A.

Morganella’s second-half strike crashed against the crossbar and looked to have crossed the goal line on its way down, but was not given by referee Angelo Cervellera.

Replays indicated that it should have stood and whilst Dybala maintained that from his angle it was a goal, he also urged caution following the incident.

“From where I was the ball crossed the line and both officials could have seen it,” Dybala said to Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“However, there is nothing we can do about it now so we must forget it.”

The Argentine striker also praised his team’s performance in the face of tough opposition and warned that Palermo’s focus was still on ensuring survival in the top flight, despite a wonderful maiden Serie A campaign.

“We deserved to win against a great team and have secured an excellent point.

“Our target is to reach safety and we are playing well. Then we will see what happens next.”
