Samuel Eto’o has officially joined Sampdoria from Everton on a three-and-a-half year contract.

The long-awaited move was finally confirmed on Tuesday by both Everton and the player himself, who will wear the number 99 shirt at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

“I am pleased to announce that I have signed a contract with UC Sampdoria for three-and-a half years,” the 33-year-old posted on his official Instagram account.

“I’m getting ready for this new adventure full of ambition. I can officially say that I am a player of Sampdoria. Thanks to all my fans for your continued support.”

The former Barcelona and Inter striker failed to make a big impact in his six months at Goodison Park, managing just four goals in 20 appearances, mostly as a substitute, but Everton manager Roberto Martinez praised the Cameroon international upon confirming his departure.

“We thank him for his commitment and for the experience he brought to all of us and the young players in particular,” he told the Everton’s official website.
