Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has heaped praise on new signing Samuel Eto’o.

The former Barcelona man made the move from Everton to Sampdoria on a two and a half year deal on Tuesday, and Ferrero spoke highly of the new signing in Eto’o’s official unveiling.

“Today we are here to present a player that needs no introduction,” he said. “He has not only reached finals of major tournaments, but he’s won them, I am proud to have him at the club.

“I’m happy to export the city of Genoa’s love for football.

“It’s not only Juventus, Roma, AC Milan, and Inter but there is also Sampdoria, we play every week without fearing any side.”

Ferrero then went on to speak about his side’s chances in reaching the UEFA Champions League, in which they sit two points behind third-placed Napoli, as well as praising the players and coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“UEFA Champions League? Football is not an exact science, dreams are life’s spices,” he said.

“We went to sleep and when we woke up we’d signed Eto’o.

“We are battling for third place thanks to the players, and I’d also like to thank the great Sinisa [Mihajlovic].

Sampdoria will face Torino in their upcoming game on January 1 February.
