rudi garciaDespite his side only managing a draw on Sunday evening away to Fiorentina, Roma coach Rudi Garcia was delighted with the way his players reacted after Mario Gomez had opened the scoring for the Viola.

Adem Ljajic earned the Giallorossi a draw but the result leaves Roma trailing league leaders Juventus by seven points in the race for the Serie A title.

“Today the way we reacted was very important, we had an excellent second half,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We could have done better in the first half but we came up against a quality team like Fiorentina.

“In the first half we didn’t close our opponents down but in the second period we did that.  I also saw a much more ambitious Roma that created chances.”

Garcia will be sweating on news surrounding Kevin Strootman, who took a blow to his knee and was substituted midway through the first half.
