Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini was quick to try and pick his side up after their resounding 6-1 thrashing away at Juventus in the Coppa Italia on Thursday night.

The sides meet again on Sunday night in league action and Mandorlini is hoping for a much better display than the one offered by a somewhat understrength Gialloblu outfit.

“I don’t think the team played badly but we made far too many mistakes,” the Verona tactician said to the assembled media. “Sometimes, these evenings happen in football and now we have a bit of time to prepare for Sunday.

“It is normal that questions will be asked after conceding six goals. We were too soft and certain players need to show a different attitude. Every game brings a different story and we hope for better in the rematch on Sunday.

“We must learn from the mistakes made in this game. When they force you to do certain things, you must be smarter in dealing with them.”
