Higuain - NapoliNapoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has revealed that he’s happy to play for the Azzurri and confirmed that he plans on staying at the club for quite some time despite rumours claiming otherwise.

The 27-year-old, who helped the Partenopei retake third place by scoring the only goal in their 1-0 away triumph over Lazio on Sunday, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League as clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal have been interested in securing his services in recent weeks, though he insists that his main objective is to achieve success with the San Paolo outfit.

Higuain spoke to Sky Sport Italia following Napoli’s great victory against Lazio about the Neapolitan side’s need to continue on the right track and commented on his future, while also touching on why he dedicated his goal to injured team-mate Lorenzo Insigne.

“We knew we had to face a strong team, we wanted to win and get back into third place so we could move forward,” said the Argentine international.

“Fortunately we were able to win a difficult game. Now we have a Coppa Italia clash with Udinese coming up and we want to advance in the competition.

“We expect to continue like this, it was a very important result for us and now we hope to move forward on this path.

“Will I only stay at Napoli if we earn a Champions League place? I’m happy here and I still have a lot of time on my contract with this club.

“The dedication to Insigne after my goal? Before we left for Rome Lorenzo had asked me if I could score a goal for him, and I showed him that I have.”
