Inter could be lining up a move for Marseille forward Andre-Pierre Gignac as a possible replacement for Mauro Icardi should the Argentine leave the San Siro club.

Icardi’s agent reportedly opened talks with the Nerazzurri on Sunday about a contract extension until 2019, however the gap between the 21-year-old’s demands and what the club are offering at present seems to be significant and Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in acquiring his services.

Tuttosport reports that Gignac could be drafted in should Icardi ultimately leave, and with the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of the season the move wouldn’t require the payment of a fee to Les Phoceens.

Gignac has scored 69 goals in 170 appearances in all competitions for the French side since joining from Toulouse in 2010.
