Filippo Inzaghi’s position as AC Milan coach is seriously under threat after the club’s performance in the 3-1 defeat against Lazio.

The Rossoneri were humiliated by the Aquile on Saturday evening in a match which saw Philippe Mexes sent off for trying to strangle Lazio’s Stefano Mauri, and Inzaghi’s men losing third match from their last four league games.

As a result, Milan have not won a Serie A game in January for the first time since 1941.

Milan Channel have also suggested that Inzaghi’s position at the club is under scrutiny, with Sky Sport Italia suggesting that Rossoneri president Silvio Berlusconi and his daughter Barbara, who sits on the Milan board, want to get rid of Inzaghi, while vice-president Adriano Galliani is intent on keeping the 41-year-old tactician.

The players will now enter a ritiro – closed training camp – until their Coppa Italia quarter-final match against, ironically, Lazio on Tuesday, before which a decision on Inzaghi’s future will likely have been made.
