Lazio coach Stefano Pioli was proud of his players as they defeated AC Milan 1-0 to move into the Coppa Italia semi finals.

Lucas Biglia scored from the spot to put the Biancocelesti ahead late in the first half only to see his teammate Lorik Cana sent off for two bookings soon after.

Lazio beat Milan 3-1 on Serie A at the weekend and managed to survive a second half with ten men to progress to the last four and do a double to heap more pressure on Rossoneri coach Filippo Inzaghi.

“Great credit to my players,” Pioli said in his press conference.

“It’s fantastic to beat them twice in a row but we have to continue playing like this on a consistent basis now.”

Pioli admitted it was difficult for his men after the red card to Cana but praised his players for their commitment.

“After the sending off it became difficult,” said the 49-year-old coach.

“The players suffered but just as things got tough, these players are able to give so much to the cause.

“I think we are on the right track.”

Lazio are the first team into the Coppa Italia semi finals as they look to make a second final in two years with hopes of claiming a seventh title come May.
