Chievo boss Rolando Maran is adamant that his team must remain fearless in their upcoming away clash with Juventus and revealed that he hopes to make things complicated for the reigning Serie A champions.
The Flying Donkeys, who currently sit just two points outside of the relegation zone, will be facing off against the Bianconeri in Turin on Sunday and the tactician admits that overcoming the hosts will be very difficult for his squad, but believes that the chance to do well against a great team like Juve will motivate his men to put in a proper performance.
Maran spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Saturday about how he expects Chievo to play against Juventus and commented on the club’s main objective for the remainder of the season.
“It will be very difficult, but because of this it will be more stimulating,” said the 51-year-old.
“We like playing against champion teams, but we will have to overcome our anxieties and be proactive and fearless while dealing with them on the field.
“They are strong, everyone knows this. The secret of Chievo is to be able to make certain aspects of the game, which would be simple against anyone else, complicated.
“We need to have a sense of belonging and the common belief that no one can take anything away from us.
“Our objectives? We want to achieve salvation as soon as possible.”
