Although confirming that Juventus are definitely looking to acquire Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza, sporting director Giuseppe Marotta all but resigned himself to the fact that taking the Italian to Turin during the January transfer window was impossible.

The 57-year-old consoled himself with the Bianconeri achieving targets set at home and abroad so far this campaign with them top of Serie A once more and finally reaching the Champions League knock-out stages which resumes in February.

“Certainly all is not perfect, however, we have reached important goals and hopefully we can go on like this,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“Zaza is a great young man, not surprisingly as he is part of the national team, but he is owned by the Sassuolo.

“It [to purchase Zaza] is definitely a desire that we have, but you have to deal with them and I do not know if Sassuolo can be deprived of their attacker at this time.”
