Philippe Mexes has been left out of AC Milan’s Coppa Italia squad for the match against Lazio, due to his behaviour in the last meeting between the two clubs.
Mexes was sent off for appearing to grab the throat of Lazio captain Stefano Mauri during the Serie A game, after which he tried to strangle the player while walking off the field.
As a result, Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has left him out of the squad which will take on Lazio on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia quarter-final.
It is expected Mexes will also receive a lengthy ban for the incident on Saturday, though it would not have applied to the Coppa Italia.
