Parma LogoBottom side Parma’s troubles have not disappeared with a sponsor backing out from their deal with the club while the town’s mayor Federico Pizzarotti has asked for clarification from the Crociati’s board as to what the economic situation is in Emilia-Romagna.

Fears around the bottom side have continued despite a takeover as the squad looks set to be weakened in the January transfer window with Francesco Lodi, Gabriel Paletta, Daniele Galloppa and Afriyie Acquah all linked with moves away while striker Antonio Cassano’s contract was cancelled.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Energy T.I. Group will remain part of the club’s board but will no longer be an official sponsor on account of a clause in the agreement not having been met.

The mayor of Parma has also requested the club explain its current predicament regarding the change of ownership and issues pertaining to the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

“As a representative of all the citizens of the city I ask that clarifications are made,” said mayor Pizzarotti of the Five Star Movement.

“It is necessary that the ownership presents itself.”

“With the end of the [Tommaso] Ghirardi era a period of ownership ended and a cycle seemed to have ended.

“However, one month later there are still doubts to be resolved.

“As the head of the administration I will formally ask that clarifications are made regarding the use of the stadium and the payment of rent.

” We are well aware that the proceeds made from advertising and the use of municipal facilities must not solely benefit Parma Football Club S.p.A economically as they are derived from a  facility that belongs to the whole community.”
