Stefano Pioli praised Lazio’s efforts and mentality for their 3–1 home win over AC Milan, on Tuesday evening in Serie A.

Lazio fell behind to Jeremy Menez’s early strike, and mounted an impressive second-half comeback to overturn the score and brush aside an AC Milan side they thoroughly dominated.

“At the break I did not have much to say,” Pioli said to Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“The players know when they are dominating opponents and creating the bulk of the chances.

“I only told my players to continue and that they were playing well aside from the mistake at the start; I congratulate the team and the supporters.

“We have quality and mentality; my players don’t know the meaning of the word ‘quit’ and this is important to have alongside technical quality.

“Our success this season is down to our sacrifices and our desire to fight for each other.”

With their win over AC Milan on Saturday evening, Lazio move in third in Serie A, a point ahead of Lazio and Sampdoria who still have a game in hand.
