Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has labelled Paul Pogba as one of the best players in the world, and says he is certain the Frenchman won’t return to Manchester United.

The 21-year-old left Old Trafford in 2012 due to a lack of playing time under then boss Sir Alex Ferguson, but has recently been linked with a return to the club under Louis van Gaal.

Pirlo though told Telefoot that his teammate will never make that move.

“I’m sure that will not return to Manchester United,” he said.

“For whatever reason they chose not to give him a chance, they made a serious mistake that they’ll have to live with now.”

Few men are more qualified to judge the quality of a midfielder than Italian World Cup winner Pirlo, and he rates Pogba as one of the best around.

“Pogba is number one, without a doubt he is among the best players in the world.”

Pogba has scored 8 goals in 25 games in all competitions this season, including spectacular efforts against the likes of Napoli, and this form has seen him linked with big money moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
