Roma are closing in on signing striker Luiz Adriano from Shakhtar Donetsk as Mattia Destro agrees to sign for AC Milan.

The 27-year-old has impressed for Shakhtar since his move from Internacional in 2007, scoring nine goals in the Champions League group stage in 2014/15. He has been outlined as an ideal player to replace the outgoing Destro for the Giallorossi, who are becoming short of strikers.

Sky Sport Italia have reported that the deal to bring Adriano to the capital is expected to be confirmed on Friday, but should that deal fall through Ukrainian attacker Yevhen Konoplyanka will be signed by the Lupi.

Dnipro forward Konoplyanka is a different style of player to Destro and Adriano- operating as more of a winger- but would be signed as an agreement is already in place if Roma opt for the 25-year-old.

Konoplyanka has earned 40 caps for the Ukraine national team, while Adriano has notched two caps for his native Brazil.
