Leandro Castan has revealed that he is hoping to make a return to action before the end of the current season after undergoing surgery.

The 28-year-old Brazilian underwent brain surgery in December in order to cure his cavernoma, a condition he was diagnosed with following a bout of dizziness during his side’s game against Empoli in September.

“I am an optimist and I hope to play a few minutes before the end of the season,” the defender said as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport as he spoke to childen at an elementary school on Tuesday.

Castan has been with the Giallorossi since joining from Brazilian outfit Corinthians in 2012 for around €5.5 million and established himself in the starting XI during the 2013-14 season under Rudi Garcia.
