Maurizio Sarri - EmpoliEmpoli coach Maurizio Sarri believes his side have an unfortunate run of matches but is confident of avoiding relegation following his side’s 2-1 loss to Udinese at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

The 56-year-old believes that despite their misfortunes there is hope for the side if they can repeat their early season away form.

“We knew that our season would be difficult, but we were not very fortunate in the matches,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“If we repeat the [early] away matches the probability of avoiding relegation will be high.

“We are lacking a bit of solidarity. The only remedy is to work and remain convinced that we can save ourselves.

“It will definitely be a tough fight, but we must look to go forward point by point.”

The Italian praised the return of 23-year-old Ricardo Saponara and believes he is crucial to the side’s success.

“Ricardo has restarted from where he left off,” he continued.

“He lacks a bit of match fitness but the quality is the same.”

“He will be important for us.”
