giovinco-pisaLega Pro side Savona have signed Giuseppe Giovinco after he left Pisa.

The 24-year-old is the younger brother of, soon to be, Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco.

The Ligurian side confirmed on the club’s official website has signed a contract that will keep him at the Stadio Valerio Bacigalupo until June 30 2017.

Giovinco began his career in the Juventus youth system before he moved on to Carrarese, Viareggio and Pisa.

“It’s an important signing for the club,” said technical director Marco Barghigiani.

“The value of the player is obvious to everybody.”

“It’s an investment for the future because he can give us a great boost forwards towards survival, but it’s also an investment for the future seeing as he has signed a contract for many years.”

Savona are currently 16th in Lega Pro Girone B which is the final relegation play-off place.
