Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni has underlined the aim of the Bianconeri is to be back in Serie A next season and is happy with his side’s attitude following their 2-1 victory over Empoli.

The 39-year-old has every faith that his team’s unity will keep them above the relegation zone.

“We are united in spirit, we will continue on like this, as it should be,” he told the media in the post-match press conference.

“We concentrate on ourselves, we have 27 points like Palermo, although not much is said about us.”

“Our goal is staying up. I liked the desire of the team [today], we were courageous and humble,” he said.

The Italian was impressed with his side’s performance despite the Zebrette being reduced to ten men and were able to restrict Empoli’s performance.

“It is very difficult to play here, we were able to limit their play with our character,” he continued.

“Limiting the play back to the opposition goal was crucial in the first half, Piris had a great game against Pucciarelli.”

“I want to congratulate my team and also Empoli because I think they have all the tools to avoid relegation,” he said.

Stramaccioni also spoke of the Bianconeri’s involvement in the transfer market.

“The Udinese project is fascinating,” he continued.

“We do not make a purchase just to plug a hole even if we have so many players out.”

“The team has never bought for the sake of it,” he said.
